OLD TESTAMENT REFERENCES

In Philippians 3:7, Paul made mention of his gains.  One of these gains was his circumcision on the eighth day (Phil. 3:5).  In Judaism, the law required an infant to be circumcised on the eighth day (Lev. 12:3).  The law was given to Abraham for his people by God (Gen. 17:12)

Genesis 17:12 - Throughout the ages, every male among you, when he is eight days old, shall be circumcised, including house born slaves and those acquired with money from any foreigner who is not of your blood.

Leviticus 12:3 - On the eighth day, the flesh of the boy's foreskin shall be circumcised,
