LITURGICAL AND HOMILETIC INTERACTION
This passage is used as the gospel reading on the Tuesday after the Epiphany or January 8th in weekday cycle I and II (#213). In these readings, by the love of God, “God sent his only begotten Son into the world so that we might have life.” (1 John 4:9) As a reflection on the great gift of the incarnation from God, we must remember that we are no longer lost and scattered, because God has sent Jesus as our shepherd to gather us together to be led and fed.
