What makes a blog different from a static webpage you might post is its interactive nature. There are really two great promises to cyberspace -- one is that it's a resource database, a place to post and retrieve information, and the other is that it's a communicative medium, a space in which dialogue may occur.   If ever there were a way to take literally the dictate to cast out into the deep, podcasting is the way to do it.  Imagine this -- you speak a sermon (or have one of your students do it) into a microphone, digital recorder, or video camcorder and then cast that recording into cyberspace where it will be picked up not only by your intended audience, but also by anyone else sifting through podcast search engines like Blinkx. Podcasting is the next great contribution to blogging. (Click for more)   PowerPoint is a slideshow program available from Microsoft. While other slideshow programs exist, like Corel Presentations and Lotus Freelance, PowerPoint is the Kleenex and Coke of the industry. While PowerPoint facilitates face-to-face presentations, its real promise lies in its ability to engage asynchronous audiences (such as in the presentations you watched from The Saint Paul Seminary and Kenrick-Glennon Seminary) through the creation of short movies.  (Click for more)
